A 3 euro fee per person is required for non-residents over 12 to hike on certain popular, official trails in Madeira, effective January 1, 2025. The fee aims to support trail maintenance, cleanliness, and conservation efforts for the popular PR (recommended) trails. Payments are made online through the Simplifica digital platform on the Regional Government's website at least 24 hours in advance, and proof of payment must be carried.
