Is it safe to do the hike from Pico do Arieiro to Pico Ruivo without a guide?

Yes, it is! This hike is the number 1 most visited walk in Madeira Island, so it very well signalized and maintained. The path is very well marked, so you will not get lost. The hike PR1 – Pico do Arieiro to Pico Ruivo is considered a medium-hard hike, emaning that you should be used to walking or going up and down stairs and ok with heights. You don’t have to be a professional hiker or fitness expert but should be aware that there is ups and downs and stairs. How do I book a transfer to Pico do Arieiro – Pico Ruivo?

You may go to the page Services and select your hike. Then, you may pay at the moment of the booking, in order to guarantee your place. For any assistance during the payment, please call or message on WhatsApp the assistance number +351964449421.

After booking, you will receive an immediate confirmation with all details.

What will happen if the weather is not suitable for the hike?

The day before the hike, you will receive a message on WhatsApp (or email If provided) regarding the weather forecast and which gear you should bring with you. In case heavy rain or wind is predicted, the hike will be postponed or cancelled for the next day available, in accordance to our availability or you will be refunded.

What should you bring with you?

It’s very important to bring with:
1. Water (1 liter per person minimum)
2. Snacks (preferably energetic)
3. Comfortable non-slippery shoes or hiking boots
4. Rain cover or Rain poncho (regardless the weather forecast, there is always a chance it can rain or shower)
5. Hat or cap
6. Sunblock
7. Gloves
8. Windbreaker
9. Coins or chance (toilets are paid)

What happens if you are late for the pick up/drop of?

At all times, we will be available for assistance during the activity and if you are running late, you should immediately contact the number provided and share the location. When the instructions are provided, we tell you at which time you should arrive to each point, so you can guide yourself more easily. If you notice that you are late, please let us know in order to warn the rest of the guests. Our tolerance is 20-30 minutes and after that we can’t wait any longer.

Regarding the pick ups and drop off in the accommodation, the tolerance is 5 minutes. If you don’t contact us and arrive later than time, the activity will not be refunded.

What is our cancellation policy?

We allow cancellations up to 24 hours before the activity. After this period of time, the refund is only issued in case of bad weather conditions if you don’t have availability for another day. Any other reason is not susceptible of a refund.
